Grizz's World
of Awesome Stuff
Hello from IOWA (yes, the American state with all the corn and pigs!) I am a self-described computer nut. I also love electronics, telephone systems, lawncare and modern TV shows like Alf and Growing Pains. Have you seen the new Columbo series? And, of course, I am a big fan of Star Trek-- I am not sure about The Next Generation yet. Hopefully the next season will live up to the original!
If you visit my FTP (File Transfer Protocol) site you can download some cool software and even a couple programs I wrote. Mine are the ones in the GRIZZSOFT folder. Check out the Codename:Arcturus BASIC program! There are also some photographs I scanned in the Polaroids folders. Here is a link to my FTP.
I also like to color. Recently I picked up a GIANT Care Bears coloring book-- it is as big as the screen on my console TV! I managed to find a few coloring books "on line" in PDF (Portable Document Format) and I will gladly share them with you! You will need a program called Acrobat to view them. Click the links below for any (or all) that you want!

Speaking of books, I have become fascinated with a type of encrypted book called "red reveal." This type of book uses dark, often blue, ink overprinted with a dense red ink design the obscured the darker ink. The magic happens when you look through a red lens, or even a piece of red cellophane, and all the red ink disapears and clearly reveals the obscured design of the darker ink. Below are some examples of this type of encryption:
Rock 'n' Wrestling (red reveal)
Transformers (red reveal)
Nintendo Sticker and Activity Album, featuring Mario and Link (red reveal)
Portrait of a Crime - A whodunit Mickey mystery (red reveal)
I like jokes too. Read some jokes, why not? Joke Page 1 Page 2 Page 3
I have also been known to write some pretty good poetry too. Please have a look at some of my best.
What's Going on Grizz?
I just added some "red reveal" decoder books to the homepage, right below the coloring books. These books are really cool. The first one I ever came across was the Nintendo one I added, and it fascinated me. I have now found four of them and have made them all available to all of you to print out. Then, pair it with some red celephane or a red lens to decode the mystery images. With both coloring books and now these ones, maybe I need to add a virtual library to the page!
Also in the news, I am planning to add virtual recipe box here as well, so be on the lookout for that!
Alli and I just got done making some hard candies. Mine were lemon-lemon and flavoured with a kool-aid packet. I used too much flavouring and they are pretty sour. I dusted them with sugar to help. Alli's are strawberry. She used a super-concentrate and they turned out great. I need to look and see what other flavours are available with her brand, but I do want to try the koolaid again with half as much kool-aid powder.
Grizz Reviews Stuff
Big Leauge Chew
This pink, shredded bubble gum tastes as you would expect it, but the novelty of it is that is comes in a chewing tobacco pouch. Now baseball loving kids can imitate their big league heros without to health issues associated with tobacoo products. I gave Kadence some on Friday and she seemed to like it too. I did notice that it lost it's flavour in about 15 minutes, but that is better than you get with the dried up sticks of gum that come with baseball trading cards.
What else is there to say about Big League Chew? If I knew, this review would be longer. 4/5 bases. I know, there are only 4 bases but 4/4 is too good for this product and 3/4 is underselling it. Maybe the umpire keeps an extra base in the trunk of his car in case of emergencies!

I bought a new modem at an auction. It's not for my laptop so I will have to do some adapting, but they don't make a 9600 bps modem for my laptop! I will let you know more when I get the chance to examine the new modem and the modem slot in my laptop. I've got some reverse-engineering to do!
